The Science Place Foundation maintains an extensive collection of artifacts, documents, photographs, and multimedia that chronicle the rich history of The Science Place from its founding as the Dallas Health Museum in 1946 through its transformation in 2007.
Our Collection
Physical Artifacts
Our archive includes original exhibit pieces, signage, educational materials, and other ephemera and memorabilia from throughout the museum's history. Notable items include The Gossamer Penguin, a Spitz A-1 Planetarium, a 600,000 volt Tesla Coil, an 8-foot-tall robot dinosaur, and many other incredible objects.
Photographic Archives
Thousands of photographs documenting exhibits, events, staff, and visitors spanning six decades. These images capture the evolution of science education and the generations of families who made memories at The Science Place.
Documents & Records
Historical documents including exhibit plans, educational curricula, marketing materials, internal communications, and administrative records that tell the story of how the museum operated and evolved.
Oral Histories
Recorded interviews with former staff members, volunteers, and visitors who share their personal experiences and memories of The Science Place.
